中国报‘错误’报道总警长辞职一事终于尘埃落定。总编辑张映坤先生被停职两个星期，中国报更在其3月19日的头版刊下道歉启示。
在刊出该篇报道后的几天，内政部长亲口证实警队高层即将换人，其中包括警察总长。虽然中国报的报道有差之毫厘，失之千里的感觉，但是罪不致死。中国报的报道也未免不全然是事实，至少肯定的一样东西，就是总警长即将离职。
引述消息在媒体内其实是正常不过的报道方式。尤以今天这宗新闻更甚，能够透露这般消息的如果不是内政部长或总警长本人，就是内政部长身边的亲密人士或警队高层。试问，在获得可信度如此高的人物确证低下，那一份媒体会放过独家的机会？
