民主行動黨森州秘書謝琪清州議員指出，華社評估及接受一名領袖，不是取決于領袖多笑或不多笑，而是領袖的原則。
他說，馬華總會長拿督斯里蔡細歷發表“副首相丹斯里慕尤丁不是反華人，只是不多笑”的言論，是非常幼稚及不合理的解釋。
“華社對慕尤丁反感的原因有幾個，其一是慕尤丁親口承認自己是馬來人優先，這是慕尤丁與林吉祥以馬來西亞人優先的分別，令
華社不能接受。”
他說，其二在教育課題方面，副首相對華教的立場，讓華社感到無奈及不滿。
他呼吁蔡細歷不要為提倡高調宣傳而幫副首相塑造一個良好的包裝形象，華社的眼睛是雪亮的，華社要的不是一個會笑的領袖。
